Morning Journal/J.D. Creer Over 2,200 holiday wreaths were placed Sunday, Dec. 6 on the graves of veterans resting at Hope Cemetery in Salem. The well-attended event was part of Wreaths for Veterans which placed wreaths at local cemeteries including Ellsworth, Canfield Geeburg, Berlin Center West and North, Sebring Grandview, North Benton and Bunker Hill in addition to Hope Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home partnered with Wreaths for Veterans to bring the observance to Salem. Plans are for a similar ceremony next year at Grandview Cemetery. The Hope Cemetery observance included a posting of the colors by the Salem Honor Guard and a wreath dedication by branches of the miliary. AMVETS Commander Kevin Seguin was guest speaker.
