The Easter weekend's lower load-shedding stages were short-lived, as Eskom announced on Wednesday the return of stage 6 due to a shortage of generation capacity at one of its biggest power stations, Medupi.
A full bench of the Western Cape High Court has dismissed with costs an application by suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane in which she sought to declare unlawful and set aside proceedings of the section 194 parliamentary inquiry committee into her fitness to hold office.
“The chickens have come home to roost as the country is plunged into yet another bout of stage 6 load-shedding with a possibility of further escalation,” said DA MP Kevin Mileham.
