something, they basically blinked. and there are a lot of people who look at us and say just ignore him. which, okay, except that he is a declared candidate for the republican presidential nomination, right? you can t just ignore him. given the sway that he has over the party. absolutely. and we get it from republicans when i walk up to them another h on the hill, they will say why aren t asking me about this, i haven t seen it, this is not the issue of the day. but he is the head of their party whether they like it or not and as fair to talk about it. up next, kevin mccarthy still has a math problem.
and you say it is a sign of weakness, but he does have considerable strength obviously with the votes that he has. the question is whether it is so narrow, nancy pelosi was able to thread the needles. can kevin mccarthy. he has a month do so, so that is working in his favor. i think the other thing that is helping him, only five no-votes right now. so that is good because that little crew insists that there are several others who are against mccarthy and will vote against him on the floor but not saying so. so even if he is not 3r5i9ing f operating100% of strength, he is looking stronger. and you can t beat somebody with nobody. and we talked about trump and some of the reprehensible things that he does, but he is for mccarthy. marjorie taylor greene is for 3
says he refuses to let them handcuff themselves to a burning building. and meanwhile mccarthy s team is confident that at the end of the day when the lights go on january 3, that enough of mccarthy s opposition will hold and this they will be able to get there even if it takes multiple rounds voting. so really it is shaping up to be a game of chicken right now. stakes are enormous. and let s bring the conversation back in the room and let s listen to kevin mc mccarthy, making the point that we ll have scenario majority in the house, we ll want to get things done, chaos won t help. we will secure lifting that vaccine mandate on our military. that is the first victory of having a republican majority. and we d like to have more of those victories and we should start moving those now. what i m going to on announce this week is a new select committee on china. we ll look at every single industry that china has us leveraged in, we ll start bringing the supply chain back to america. and
republicans deal with their mess. jeffriess said that he would take it to multiple ballots on the floor. jeffries was laelected last wee in a private ballot, but it was unanimous. and kevin mccarthy is not john boehner and not paul ryan. he spent years courting the far right. he is shown even in those clips that he is willing to play the far right s game in terms of kicking people off committees and having investigations. and so it is just not the same animosity that was there before. that doesn t mean five people can t technically block him, but they have a harder argument to make to their colleagues if they can t also point to substantive differences. and five publicly declared which means if nobody else joins them, if he can just peel off one or two, it will give him breathing room. up next, why democrats are confident about the georgia
be on the intel committee when i become speaker. he had a lonk g list, essentl hely saying if we have chaos, these things won t get done. and this is early proxy battle. every point if he takes over, there will be five or six or ten people who will try to hold the whole conference hostage and i think that people would be surprised if they only, you know, watch twitter and read what matt gaetz is saying every day. just how much support he has in his conference. he has 188. a lot of that 188 in the vote for the nomination for speaker is really committed passionate support for kevin mccarthy and those people will put up a fight. so i think that he is in a pretty good position. we don t see the math right now, it is not clear how it will sort out, but mccarthy supporters can take hostageseses too.
