The Jacksonville Jaguars and pass rusher Josh Allen have a starting point for contract negotiations. With Montez Sweat signing a four-year, $98 million extension with the Chicago Bears last week, that deal should provide a baseline — maybe even a blueprint — for Allen and the Jaguars moving forward.
Jacksonville's defense might be a statistical anomaly since key metrics don’t reflect just how good it's been this season. The Jaguars rank 15th in points allowed, 21st in total yards and 26th in sacks, spots hardly befitting one of the NFL's top units. “It’s just manifesting things we already talked about, envisioned,” said safety Andre Cisco, who is tied for the team lead with three interceptions.
Gardner Minshew’s return to Jacksonville was a turnover-filled folly, a much different version of “Minshew Mania.” Minshew lost a fumble and threw three interceptions in his first game back in Jacksonville since the Jaguars traded him just before the 2021 season. Minshew’s miscues were critical in Indianapolis’ 37-20 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday.
