Texas voting bill improves. But provisions that limit access must be resisted
There is no evidence of rampant voter fraud, but there are common-sense measures worth embracing.

When our legislators tackle election reform, improving citizens’ access to the polls must always be their North Star. Making it easier for Texans to vote and protecting their ballots are not incompatible standards, and we welcome measures that do both through clear, simple and reasonable rules.
That is why we are relieved that Texas lawmakers improved a controversial piece of legislation known as Senate Bill 7 by adopting common-sense initiatives that increase voter access and ballot safety. As we have said before, there is no evidence of rampant voter fraud, but that doesn’t mean we should categorically dismiss any proposed reform to our elections system.

Even in the most public of places, a woman can be vulnerable. She can be sitting in a restaurant or at a bar, and the man beside her can be someone abusing her, or someone she fears will or someone who just makes her uncomfortable about her safety.
Dallas restaurants join coalition to help victims of domestic violence
Signs will be posted in women’s restrooms, and staff will be trained on how to help safely.

A silent, mighty mission is starting behind closed doors in Dallas.
D-FW restaurant and bar owners, led by Dallas restaurateur Kevin Lillis, are posting signs in women’s restrooms, offering help and education for anyone suffering from domestic violence. It’s a simple sign one that instructs victims to give a secret password to her server so she can get help immediately.
