Subscriber only Former Neerkol orphanage employee, Kevin Leslie Baker, is set to stand trial later this year on historical offences. Mr Baker s matters were mentioned in Rockhampton District Court last week. The court heard Mr Baker was scheduled to stand trial to contest the charges with the trial starting on November 8 in Rockhampton District Court. The court heard the six charges that were in the magistrates court had been moved up to the district court. Crown prosecutor Samantha O Rourke said the crown would not be pursuing an application to have the six charges join up with those Mr Baker will stand trial over in November.

Former Neerkol orphanage employee, Kevin Leslie Baker, is still waiting for an indictment presentation after being committed to stand trial in the Rockhampton District Court.
Mr Baker, who is accused of historical offences, had his matter mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on January 20, where he was represented by lawyer Rebecca Harris from McGowran and Cagney solicitors.
Those charges were one count each of indecent treatment of boys under 14 and attempt to procure indecent practices between males.

Subscriber only CENTRAL Queensland District Courts were busy this year running child sex offending cases, both recent and historical, with one found not guilty by jury, others pleading guilty and some yet to dealt with. The cases were from across the Central Queensland region.
1) PRE-PUBESCENT TEEN BRIBED FOR SEX, FORTNIGHTLY FOR YEARS A ROCKHAMPTON girl was subjected to fortnightly unprotected sex for three years, when she was aged 11-14, after being preyed upon by her uncle at age 10. The uncle, 46, was sentenced in Rockhampton District Court in November after pleading guilty to maintaining a sexual relationship with a child, two counts of indecent treatment of a child and two of carnal knowledge.
