CORNWALL – The Ontario government has announced over $7 million for 87 festivals and events across the province to help them adhere to COVID-19 measures.
Tourism Minister Lisa MacLeod says the pandemic has had an “unprecedented, devastating impact on arts, tourism and culture in the province” and this money will help organizations deliver “innovative and safe experiences.”
In our area, there $41,000 for Winter Activation in Cornwall and $35,980 for The River of Lights in Brockville.
Cornwall Tourism Officer Kevin Lajoie says their application for “Winter Activation” included a number of activities: the Holiday Sparkle at Gray’s Creek Conservation Area, winter activities in Lamoureux Park (skating rink, toboggan hill, trails and lights) and support for fat bike and snowshoe trails in Guindon Park.

Participating restaurants were asked to showcase a new, special or signature dish starting Friday, Feb. 5 until the first week of March. From authentic Thai, Greek, Indian, German, Italian dishes and more, there is sure to be something that will satisfy your taste buds
