LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - Lawton Public Schools is making some changes to their dress code.
Elementary student’s will no longer have a modified dress code.
Superintendent Kevin Hime says like the middle and high schools in the district students will be able to wear what they want as long as it falls under the schools guidelines.
He believes this will be the best thing for the district.
“Majority of our parents felt like it was a relief to them because they had trouble finding those clothes that fit that dress code and as their kids grew out of the clothes. Some kids have two or three sets of clothes they have to have a year because they grow so fast,” said Hime.

ELGIN, Okla. (TNN) - The first full school year during the pandemic is almost over in southwest Oklahoma.
Elgin Public Schools Superintendent Nate Meraz said he’s proud of how his district handled themselves through the pandemic.
“As of today, we have had 117 student cases of COVID-19. If you divide that out by our population, that’s five percent,” Meraz said.
Heading into the 21-22 school year, Meraz said he’s ready to get back to normal.
After a bill requiring every student to pass the US citizenship test in order to graduate was signed into law, the Lawton Public Schools superintendent says districts now have to find their own ways to fund and administer the tests.
