In addition, video surveillance at the property showed him holding the same handgun, it says.
The statement alleges four gun crimes by Dawkins at the Fairfield location, including possessing a weapon with a purpose to use it unlawfully against the person or property of another, the statement says.
He is also charged in Fairfield with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a high-capacity magazine and certain persons not to possess weapons. The probable cause statement says Dawkins is not allowed to possess a gun due to a prior conviction for aggravated sexual assault.
A New Jersey State Police spokesperson did not respond to a request for additional details. Law enforcement officials have not made public a motive in the shooting.
The charges against Dawkins are only allegations. He has not been convicted of any crimes connected to Saturday’s shooting.

That session prompted the parishioner and party host to invite Keene to the site of the shooting after investigators released the home.
There, a clean-up was under way. So I went over, and as we re walking up the driveway there were all these cars sitting there and she said, I don t know who these cars belong to. What are we going to do? Keene said. I told her ‘let s not worry about that right now. Let s clean up your house, clean up your yard.’

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J. - The death toll from a mass shooting during a birthday party in Cumberland County is now three, authorities said.
Braylin Holmes, 19, of Millville City, New Jersey, died of her injuries on Monday night at Cooper University Hospital. She was among more than a dozen people shot and wounded in what authorities are calling a targeting shooting at a house in Fairfield Township at about 11:50 p.m. Saturday.
New Jersey State Police have arrested Darrell Dawkins, 30, of Bridgeton, New Jersey, on an illegal weapons charge. Police said he attended the party and had a handgun on him but are not saying if he is suspected of being the shooter.

Authorities also made a second arrest for unlawful gun possession, as the search for potential suspects continued.
State Police announced on Tuesday that Braylin Holmes, of Millville, was pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital on Monday evening.
A personal Facebook page for Holmes was filled with photos, including one in her cap and gown last summer as a graduate with Bridgeton High School Class of 2020.
Kevin Elliott, 30, and Asia Hester, 25, both of Fairfield, also were shot and killed in the violence that erupted at a home on East Commerce Street before midnight on Saturday.
