What the president can do does not have the force of law. Buffalo, new york, is used to dealing with a lot of snow, but this morning, the city is paralyzed by a monster lakeeffect storm that threatens to bury it in up to six feet of snow when all is said and done. At least four deaths are blamed on the storm. Its part of a nationwide system thats wrapped the country in a deep freeze. Yesterday temperatures in all 50 states fell to freezing or below. And the storm is being called one of the worst in memory. The storm the snow, rather, is so deep and conditions to severe that a 135mile stretch of the new york state throughway is shut down. Drivers and cars, trucks and buses are stranded. Some for more than 30 hours. The Niagara University Womens Basketball team has been stranded on the throughway for about that long. These were the existing records. The actual testimony, theres the tieing in philadelphia. Theres the tieing in reading. Theres the beating the record in georgetown, came within two degrees in Atlantic City and four degrees in wilmington. The temperature at the moment, all the way up to 29 degrees. The windchill is 20. So its obviously not as brutal as it was this morning. The temperature is not going to get as cold tonight as it did last night. This is still way, way cold are than average for this time of the year. We are not going to be seeing a lot of change during the day. By noontime, 30 degrees. By 3 00, about 33. 6 00, to 30. And then were kind of leveling off tonight. If anything, later tonight the temperature may go up a couple of degrees. So the windchill staying generally between 18 and 2
