Hill County Constable Shot During High-Speed Chase A Hill County constable is recovering after he was shot during a high-speed chase Thursday, May 13, that involved multiple law enforcement agencies. The chase reportedly began locally when authorities were attempting to apprehend suspects wanted by the Dallas Police Department. According to reports, Precinct 4 Constable Kevin Cordell was attempting to stop the suspects as they entered Interstate 35 near Itasca when one of the suspects opened fire on the constable’s vehicle. One of those bullets reportedly went through the windshield and struck the constable in the head before exiting his neck. Cordell was transported from the scene by Hill County Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Hemrick and then taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth by CareFlite.

DALLAS - A law enforcement officer shot in the line of duty is out of the hospital but will return later for surgery.
Hill County Constable Kevin Cordell was released from the hospital on Friday, one day after he was shot during a high-speed chase.
He was one of the officers chasing two suspects wanted for murder in Dallas through several counties.
Shots were fired by the two men during the pursuit.
One of the suspects died in a shootout with officers as the chase ended near Alvarado in Johnson County. The other was wounded.

Hill County Precinct Four Constable Kevin Cordell was shot during the chase, according to the report. His injuries are not life-threatening and he was being treated at a hospital, the news outlet said.
The pursuit was initiated when the suspects were reportedly headed toward Dallas. As law enforcement officers disabled the vehicle, gunfire was exchanged and the chase ended in the suburb of Alvarado, KXXV-TV reported.

A Hill County constable was shot during a chase Thursday afternoon while trying to help capture two felony suspects wanted by Dallas police.
The two men, wanted for aggravated assault in Dallas, were captured after the chase ended near Alvarado, in Johnson County. Authorities said there was a shootout and standoff there between the suspects and law enforcement.
Both suspects, who have not yet been identified, were shot.
Their car ended up in a ditch after a DPS trooper forced them off the road.

A Hill County constable and two suspects were wounded during a police chase that stretched across North Texas and an ensuing shootout Thursday afternoon.
A Dallas police spokeswoman said the department’s fugitive unit had located two people wanted on felony charges, then asked nearby agencies to perform a traffic stop. Ellis County sheriff’s deputies and Waxahachie police responded, but the suspects fled.
