“It is speeding up vaccine trial results,” he said.
Daar is a member of a team at The Lundquist Institute that has enrolled nearly 300 volunteers in the Phrase III trial of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Nationwide, 30,000 volunteers are being enrolled. Two-thirds of the volunteers are receiving the vaccine. One-third are receiving a placebo. Vaccines with successful Phase III trials may be approved for general use.

A restriping of traffic lanes on Hermosa Avenue, between 8th and 14th streets; and on Pier Avenue, between Hermosa Avenue and Valley Dr., starts Monday, with work expected to extend over 10 days. The new striping will be in place for at least six months, city officials said.
The project will remove a car lane in each direction on the two streets and allow businesses to expand their on-street decks. It will also allow for the addition of bike lanes in each direction on the two streets.
