Photo by: Office of Legislator Mulé Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) presented a Nassau County Citation to Lynbrook resident Tom Schule, co-owner of Freeport’s Halfway Down restaurant, in recognition of his tireless efforts to feed hospital employees and first responders throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Last spring, Schule pooled resources with fellow Halfway Down co-owners Kevin Calhoun and Richard Duffy to make meals for COVID-19 first responders and deliver them to area hospitals. The initiative started with Mt. Sinai South Nassau Hospital and branched out to seven area hospitals; ultimately, thousands of meals were delivered to those on the front lines through the effort.
