OCALA, Fla. (AP) â A 14-year-old boy was killed when he crashed his grandmotherâs SUV after taking it for a drive on Monday evening.
Javariy Wilson, who lived with his grandmother in Ocala, not far from the crash site, the Ocala Star-Banner reported.
His grandmother, Jennifer Redish, told investigators that she told the teen to take out the trash on Monday evening. When he didnât come back inside the house, she looked out and noticed her Chevy Trailblazer was missing, Ocala police said.
But just as quickly as her face lit up when talking about Javariy, Redish started crying and wiping away tears. He was a fun person. He was loved by everyone, she said while sitting on a chair inside her duplex.
Javariy died Monday night, roughly half a mile away from his grandmother s residence. He crashed about 6:15 p.m. while driving her vehicle in the 2500 block of Northwest 42nd Street in Ocala.
Portions of the demolished chain-link fence along Northwest 42nd Street stood Tuesday as a painful reminder of where Redish s older model Chevy Trailblazer once sat.
Javariy was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated, the Ocala Police Department said on Tuesday.
