Students in the Career Education Opportunity (CEO) program participated in their own private “hidden spaces” event on Tuesday as Van Wert County Foundation (VWCF) Executive Secretary Seth Baker and his staff provided tours of buildings purchased as part of the Van Wert Forward downtown development project.

The spaces toured included the upper stories of the Rhoades Insurance building on the southwest corner of Main and Washington streets, the upper stories of the building housing attorney Dillon Staas’ law practice on the northeast corner of Washington and Main, and the former CJ’s Side Pockets in the 100 block of North Washington Street.

(CEO) program from Crestview, Lincolnview, and Van Wert toured various
downtown buildings on Tuesday with the Van Wert County Foundation to
learn more about the Van Wert Forward Project.

Director Kerry Koontz said the aim of the tour was to show the students
what downtown Van Wert could look like in the future.

WERT Anthony Adams was elected president of the Van Wert City Board
of Education at the Board s organizational meeting Wednesday evening.
Dr. Rachel White was elected vice president. The Board then proceeded to
appoint Board representatives and establish dates, times, and place for
regular meetings during the calendar year. There were presentations to
the Board as well as a video celebrating the members efforts as part of

The Van Wert City Board of Education members took care of a number of housekeeping items during their reorganizational meeting, including electing new officers and setting meeting dates and times, while also being honored by the district administration and various schools as part of School Board Recognition Month.

Board President Anthony Adams was re-elected to that position, while Dr. Rachel White was selected as board vice president. Board meeting times remained the fourth Wednesday of the month, starting at 5 p.m., in the First Federal Lecture Hall of the Niswonger Performing Arts Center.

VAN WERT – The Career Education Opportunities (CEO) program aims to
allow area senior students to test careers at local businesses and
organizations. Currently, students are halfway through this year s
program. Two Van Wert seniors spoke about how the program has helped
them discover what they would like to do after graduation. Before, I had no idea what I wanted to do, said Van Wert senior Allie Etter. This program has led me to the direction I want to move into.
