Belgian Days: De Pere s Gina Guth taps family history to teach cooking

When leading a Belgian pie class, Gina doesn t send students to the store to buy pie filling. She teaches how to make cherry filling. Same with apple, rice and raisin custard. Then comes the lesson on making the cottage cheese topping with the added step of squeezing moisture from half the curds that will be combined with wet curds, egg yolks and sugar, and blended smooth. There was a time when dry cottage cheese was widely available. Cottage cheese likely became the topping of choice, Gina said, because farmers made it and had it in abundance. Same for the traditional fillings.

De Pere Bar Is The Benificiary Of A National Fundraiser

By Robert Kennedy Dec 30, 2020 2:09 AM DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A De Pere bar is getting a little extra help to stay afloat during the pandemic from a national digital media company that’s giving money to local businesses all across the country. For Kerry Counard , owner of The Abbey, the pandemic has caused some sleepless nights. “I’m a former athlete that just runs a business. I just want to run a business.” But now, Counard tells FOX 11 he can get some sleep, knowing he can keep his business going. Thanks to something called the Barstool Fund. “It’s certainly given me more optimism that we’re going to survive.”

With Congress Killing American Business, One Media Company That Liberals Hate Took Action

Share   Tweet Congress has failed. That’s not hard task for the idiots we have working on the Hill. Dare I say, democracy has failed, but I won’t go down that rabbit hole. As the nation deals with the coronavirus outbreak, thousands of businesses have been destroyed, specifically bars and restaurants. Initially, I get why there was a stay-at-home order, now there are raw numbers that show these establishments are not the main source of spread. In New York, one of the states hardest hit by the virus, new data shows that bars and restaurants account for only 1.4 percent of COVID spread. Also, schools are not sources of so-called “super spread.” Reopen the damn schools and resume indoor dining.
