CHICO, Calif. – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that fully vaccinated teachers and students no longer need to wear masks in schools.
Regardless, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) says that masks will still be required in school for all students in the state.
Action News Now spoke with parents in Chico who say they’re upset that the state is not implementing the changes.

The CDC is seeing an increase in people not getting their second vaccine shots for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

CHICO, Calif. - The CDC reports that close to half of the U.S. has gotten at least one vaccine shot, yet about 8% of Americans have missed their second vaccine dose, up from 3.4% in March.
Kerri Schutte from Shasta County Public Health told Action News Now that some people might be forgetting their second appointment, or feel they have enough protection from the first.
She said some people might fear the reaction they could get from getting the second dose.
