Villages along the eastern Khuga River downstream in Churachandpur’s Meitei Christian Leikai, Nengthawng Veng, Kerith Veng besides Ngulzen Veng, Kamdou Veng, Zoumunnuam localities were inundated due to the sudden rise of water levels of many small streams, while some homes and agricultural lands were submerged. Even though residents are not aware of it, with 27 mm of rainfall, Churachandpur district recorded the highest rainfall among all the 16 districts of the state on Saturday, according to the directorate of Environment and Climate Change weather data.
