KUCHING: Six new Covid-19 clusters have been identified in Sarawak, as the state reported 193 new cases and one death on Tuesday (Feb 16).
In a statement, the state disaster management committee said two of the new clusters involved nursing homes at Jalan Geronggang and Sungai Merah in Sibu.
It said the Geronggang cluster was identified following active case detection after a 77-year-old resident of the home tested positive on Feb 10. The index case likely contracted the virus from the community while seeking treatment at a medical centre in Sibu. Contact tracing and active case detection yielded 40 more cases, including two new cases today, the committee said.
KUCHING (Jan 11): The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) has decided to place six districts under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) from Jan 13 to Jan 26, after the state recorded 153 new Covid-19 cases today. Its chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the CMCO would be enforced in Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sibu, Sarikei and Miri districts.
KUCHING: Sarawak reported 55 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday (Jan 9), the highest daily number since the pandemic began, bringing the state's tally to 1,251 cases.
KUCHING: The Kuching district is now a Covid-19 orange zone after recording 25 locally transmitted cases in the last 14 days, says the state disaster management committee.
