GPS Celebrates May Day 2021 Monday, May 3, 2021
The May Queen and Court
In the 1920s, the senior with the longest hair was named GPS May Queen, since she could braid her tresses and fashion them into a crown. One hundred years later, the GPS May Queen and court are chosen for a greater distinction: representing the senior class in the highest sense. They should be gracious, friendly, and loyal to friends and to GPS. They should be actively and enthusiastically involved in the life of GPS, eager to give of their time and their talents. They should stand for the highest ideals in character and integrity and should be respected and admired by fellow schoolmates and faculty alike.
GPS Lacrosse Earns 18-5 Win Over Baylor Friday, April 23, 2021 The GPS lacrosse team moved to 15-0 on the season with a dominating performance over Baylor at Heywood Stadium on the Baylor campus. Led by a defense that played its best game of the season, the Bruisers won 18-5, holding the Raiders to their fewest goals in the rivalry since 2007. Junior goalie Savannah Stout had a season-high nine saves in the cage for the visitors, and seniors Anna von Kessler and Kenzie Grisar gave her plenty of support on the defensive end of the field throughout the game. With the win, the Bruisers extend their best start in program history and have not lost a game since May 3, 2019.
