Lexington is hosting a series of events surrounding Juneteenth, the nationally-celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the U.S. One new addition this year is a campaign to recognize Fayette County’s rural Black hamlets.
Community organizers are presenting a variety of events in celebration of Juneteenth. Flags and banners through downtown will be joined by businesses lighting up their buildings to support and raise awareness around the holiday.
