LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â The snow came and stayed, giving those in Lexington a white Christmas Day.
âIâm excited for it. I wasnât expecting it, but I like it,â said one woman.
Lexington road crews worked overnight and into the holiday to treat roads and keep drivers safe, but low temperatures on Christmas night mean drivers are not in the clear yet.
âPeople just need to be aware that, yeah sometimes we do a great job where we melt everything off the road and itâs going away, but then if that water doesnât drain off, it actually turns to ice,â said LFUCG Streets and Roads Director Rob Allen. âMother nature did give us an assist today with some sunlight and things like that, but salt is only effective to about 15 degrees.â
