Galesburg Police on Saturday night (September 3rd) responded to the Hi-Lo grocery store on South Seminary Street for a report of retail theft. Dispatch informed officers that the store's manager had locked the male suspect into the store. Officers arrived and were informed by store associates that 50-year-old Kent Pedersen of Abingdon had entered the store earlier in the day, taken a bottle of Crown Royal from its box, placed it down his pants, and left the store. When Pedersen returned, the store manager locked him inside and phoned the police. When officers made contact with Pedersen, he told police he was wanted and that they might as well arrest him, according to police reports. It was discovered that Pedersen had a valid Fulton County warrant and two valid Knox County warrants, as well as, a prior conviction of theft. Police were able to confirm the theft via security footage. Pedersen was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with Retail Theft - 2nd offense and the
