Utah Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson threw her support behind a bill to require police officers to conduct lethality assessments when responding to domestic violence cases.
After Utah Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson’s cousin, Amanda “Mandy” Mayne, was murdered, she and other lawmakers want to mandate that the lethality assessment protocol to help police officers assist victims of domestic violence be used statewide.
Four months after a Utah woman was killed by an ex-husband, her family hopes the case will spark change to Utah laws to better protect others from domestic violence.
