David ‘Wayne’ Lanier
SURF CITY David “Wayne” Lanier, 65, died suddenly Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at “The Man Building” in Surf City.
Wayne was born Jan. 16, 1956, the son of the late D.C. and Wilma Brown Lanier.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 33 years, Robin Best Lanier; daughter, Jordan Lanier Barkman; son-in-law, Brian Barkman; grandson, Lanier Mac Barkman; and a second grandson who is expected to arrive in September. He is also survived by his three sisters, Elizabeth Outlaw, Donna Lanier and Sandra Raynor, and their families. He had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Wayne is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Roman Best and Rick Best; sister-in-law, Renee’ Best, and their families; childhood and lifelong friends Andy Griffin and Kent Evans.
