Former RI Trump campaign leader alleges Dan Yorke defamed him on WPRO

His lawyer, Thomas Tarro, filed a miscellaneous petition in Kent County Superior Court on Monday seeking court permission to issue subpoenas and depose WPRO radio s Dan Yorke about on-air comments the talk-show host made about the Zarrella fundraiser controversy. He hasn t filed a lawsuit yet, but appears to be seeking evidence from WPRO s owner, Cumulus Media, to do so. More specifically, the petition alleges that Yorke, on May 10, while on air, made defamatory and offensive statements about Gerald Zarrella which painted Gerald Zarrella in a false light and was stated with the intent to cause harm to his name, reputation and ethnic group from which he derives.

(Mary Serreze | Patch) A man known to Pawtucket police as a member of the Bucket East gang was sentenced to serve four years in state prison after pleading to a firearms charge stemming from a Warwick traffic stop. John Laboy, 23, appeared in Kent County Superior Court on Tuesday where he pleaded nolo contendere to a single charge of possessing a firearm while on probation for a previous crime. Under Rhode Island law, individuals convicted of certain violent crimes are prohibited from purchasing or possessing firearms. Superior Court Magistrate John F. McBurney III sentenced Laboy to 10 years at the Adult Correctional Institutions, or ACI, with four years to serve and the balance of the sentence suspended with probation.
