Our main story at 5 its emerged that the cladding used to renovate Grenfell Tower was changed to a type which cost nearly 300,000 pounds less than alternatives. Documents obtained by bbc news show that officials originally chose a Zinc Cladding for the building, but then decided on a less fire resistant aluminium version. The cladding is thought to have contributed to the spread of the fire that killed at least 80 people. Nicholas paget brown said he had to accept responsibility for his role in the response to the fire, and in particular for the decision to ban the public and press from a Council Meeting last night.
