No city should ever lose a sports franchise at any level. There's just too much invested in each franchise. Too many fans, too many players, too many coaches, too many guys who sell popcorn, too many interns who are just hoping to get a start in sports. When a team goes away at any level, all of that goes away, too.
After back-to-back bye weeks, I'm back with more breakdowns, more history and more AFL than anywhere else. Arizona won the West, Jacksonville won a record tying 12th straight, Tommy Grady tossed ten TDs again, Derrick Ross set the single-season rushing record (without apparently anyone knowing about it), Tampa Bay evened the War on I-4 and a few more thousand words to fill the void until Week 16 kicks off. The Orlando Predators are in disarray, and something needs to be done and done right this very moment, or the 2010 season for the squad is absolutely going to fall apart and the franchise is going to miss the postseason for the time since 1991.
It's Hall of Fame selection time again in the Arena Football League. This Friday, the AFL will announce ten finalists selected by the Hall of Fame Advisory Board. Last year, I correctly predicted nine of the ten finalists (I took a player over an administrator but did mention him as a worthy finalist) and correctly predicted that all ten should be inducted that year (which happened).
Ten weeks down, ten more to go in the longest regular season in AFL history. Nine teams have winning records, last year's ArenaBowl participants are a combined 7-10, Jacksonville is riding an eight-game winning streak and Arizona has lost two games by two combined points.
