An outpouring of love is being shown from Hampton Roads and beyond, as family and friends are remembering a beloved Virginia Beach firefighter who died last week after battling cancer.
Matt Chiaverotti is one of five members of the Virginia Beach Fire Department fighting cancer after hazardous exposures from the 2012 "Good Friday Miracle" crash.
According to the Firefighter Cancer Support Network, 9% of firefighters have a higher risk of being diagnosed with cancer and 14% have a higher risk of dying.
Pravetz has worked with the Virginia Beach Fire Department since 1999, and he worked for the Air Force before that. He has several fire science and safety degrees.
