Atlanta police seize guns and drugs in illegal street racing arrests

ATLANTA - At least 6 people were arrested Saturday night in connection to street racing as Atlanta police continue to crack down on illegal activities during the NBA All-Star weekend.
According to police, officers went to 152 Luckie Street NW where a dark-colored Dodge Charger was seen laying drag in an open parking lot.
Authorities say 5 people were cheering on and encouraging the driver of the Dodge Charger.
The 5 people and the driver were later taken into custody. The following individuals were taken into custody: 31-year-old Arthur Minton, 30-year-old Raylan Miller, 29-year-old Kenneth Patterson, 23-year-old Isadore Harvey, 27-year-old Samiyiah Franklin, and 31-year-old Alfred Johnson.
That doubled the anticipated costs for travel and lodging.
And more recently, the teams were impacted by unanticipated mechanical problems for the college’s activity bus. Costs of chartering alternate transportation for the rest of the spring schedules exceeded budgeted resources, administrators said.
The softball team was getting ready to head to Lamar, Colo., for a weekend tournament to start its season, and the night before, the team was told it could not go.
“We were scheduled to leave this morning,” coach Steve Wallace said of Friday’s scheduled early-morning departure. “I found out about 5 (Thursday) yesterday afternoon. It would have been our first weekend of games. First set of games we were playing.”
