ALEXANDRIA, Va, (AP) Kenneth Moffett, the federal mediator during the 1981 baseball strike who briefly succeeded Marvin Miller as the second head of the players’ association, has died. He was 90.

On Sunday, January 17, 2021, Kenneth Moffett, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at age 75.
Ken was born on August 30, 1945 at the family home in Montour, IA, to Murry and Carole (Smith) Moffett. The route from junior farm mechanic to college instrumentation specialist first took Ken to Iowa State University in Ames for an industrial arts education degree. Then, about to be drafted, he joined the Air Force and taught English in Vietnam, moving on to graphics work with NOR AD in Tacoma, Washington. When he left the service he came to Minnesota for a medical electronics degree, which led to a 23-year job in Biomedical Engineering Services at the University of Minnesota Hospitals. He next joined a software start-up doing customer data analysis, software installation, and user training. Finally, he took a job looking for a creative person with machine knowledge who liked working with students. He was ecstatic. It was a wonderful job at a wonderful schoo
