(WAFB) - The last witness of day two in the Kenneth Gleason trial was very adamant Gleason did not kill Bruce Cofield. Jacques Landry, the owner of the now-defunct Posh Chic hair salon near the corner of N. Acadian and Florida pointed at Kenneth Gleason and said the gunman who killed Cofield looked nothing like him. It was a bizarre twist on a day in which prosecutors laid the groundwork for their case against Gleason. Gleason is charged with two counts of first degree murder for the killings of Cofield and Donald Smart.

(WAFB) - The trial began for Kenneth Gleason, the Baton Rouge man charged with two counts of first-degree murder and who is accused of shooting into a family’s home just days before. Kenneth Gleason is accused of murdering Bruce Cofield on Sept. 12, 2017. Cofield was suffering from homelessness at the time, and Donald Smart on Sept. 14, 2017 as he was walking to work.

Trial for alleged Baton Rouge serial killer to begin Monday 5 hours 39 minutes 33 seconds ago Monday, April 12 2021 Apr 12, 2021 April 12, 2021 6:58 AM April 12, 2021 in News Source: WBRZ Share: Kenneth Gleason, 27, is accused of shooting and killing a homeless man named Bruce Cofield on September 12, 2017 in addition to gunning down Donald Smart, a long-time and well-known employee of Baton Rouge s Louie s Cafe, on September 14.  He was also arrested in connection with a September 11, 2017 shooting that occurred at the home of the only Black family on his street, Sandy Ridge Drive.  This shooting, classified as an attempted-murder, did not injure the two men who were home when the shots were fired.
