Tim Barry VillageMD, a Chicago-based primary care clinic company, plans to open more than 15 medical practices in metro Detroit this year. The first two VillageMD clinics in Southeast Michigan under the employed model are located in Westland, Mich., and headed by three primary care doctors, Robert Brock, Robert Sikorski and Kenneth Colton. VillageMD also signed a partnership affiliation in 2018 with Envision Medical Group and its nine locations in northwest metro Detroit. Over the past several years, health systems, physicians and for-profit management companies have been investing more into ambulatory and urgent care centers as patient care increasingly has been moving to lower-cost and more convenient locations.
