The N.C. High School Athletic Association softball state championship series are set to take place this weekend.
Due to the lack of collegiate venues available as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the events will be held at Davie County High and North Davidson High on Friday and Saturday.
The eight qualifying teams have spent the last two weeks battling through their respective regional brackets on their way to this opportunity for a title.
Here are some of the players who helped their teams break through in this shortened season.

ELON, N.C. Eastern Alamance was able to bounce back from its first loss in 2021 and the victory was highlighted by a 14-strikeout game by junior pitcher Kenna Raye Dark.
The Eagles blanked rival Western Alamance, 5-0, on Tuesday night at Western Alamance Middle School. Eastern Alamance was No. 1 in the midseason HighSchoolOT Top 25 East softball poll, while Western Alamance was a couple spots behind at No. 5.
Eastern Alamance would ultimately plate two runs on a single into right field by nine-hole hitter Reagan Hartley (senior). There were some mishaps made in the field by Western Alamance that put the Eagles ahead 2-0 in the top of the fourth inning, and gave Hartley the chance to advance to second base.
