Our Correspondent Kohima, Nov. 18 (EMN): Alumni Association of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, celebrated its silver jubilee on Friday at the college campus in Kohima. While pronouncing the invocation prayer, Rev. Dr. Fr. George Keduolhou Angami, principal of the college, stated that the alumni meet-cum-celebration of 25th anniversary of the association was an opportunity to celebrate “one love and one heart.” The college’s principal, a 1985 batch, went on to state that the fundamental reason why they have alumni meet was to create opportunity for the college to show love and affection towards their former graduate students and to celebrate their achievements. Also speaking at the event, advocate and first present of the college alumni association, Kezhokhoto Savi, recalled that in the year 1997, the then college principal invited few of them to form the alumni association. Our Correspondent Kohima, Sep.10 (EMN): In order to encourage use of eco-friendly products and entrepreneurial spirit among the students, Sociology students of St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, introduced a plantable badge on September 9. Keneisezo Thomas Belho, a post graduate student of Sociology and founder of Kenbel newspaper pencil, informed that he has initiated the programme in order to create awareness and protect the environment. Belho along with Medonuo Pienyü, head of Sociology department, and Dr. Fr. Pezalhoukho George, PG coordinator, officially launched the eco-friendly badges at a classroom on Friday. While exuding hope that his project would bear positive results, Belho stated that the concept of plantable badge was a new subject in the state though it has already been successful in other parts of the country. Our Correspondent Kohima, July 30 (EMN): People in other countries have a good work culture but Nagas, on the other hand, are lethargic, lamented Supongnukshi Ao, Chief Conservator of Forest, Environment, Biodiversity and Research. Sharing his experience at the 35th Freshers’ Day of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Jakhama, on Saturday, Ao said the Japanese and Germans could work for more than 13-14 hours a day even during the COVID-19 pandemic, while government servants in Nagaland hardly remain in their offices for 5-6 hours daily. He urged students to focus on their talents and capacities, while reminding that about 6,000 youth have registered unemployed in the state. ‘High expectations on jobs in government sector should be lowered as it may leave us frustrated,’ he said.
