Kendrick Elementary School students and parents may ask Santa for coffee for the new year with a change in school hours that means an earlier starting and ending time.
The weeks ahead will see major milestones for the remaining schools under construction in the $355 million Waco Independent School District bond issue, and the start of construction on others.
Kendrick Elementary turned 71 on Monday, and former students, their friends, family and well-wishers turned out en masse to wish the place goodbye and best wishes before it is replaced.
The nonprofit Transformation Waco will soon return management of its five schools to Waco ISD but continue to provide services to disadvantaged students.
