The Olney Hamilton Hospital Foundation re-elected its current slate of officers, heard reports about the foundation’s finances, and donated funds to the hospital at its annual meeting on April 10.
The City Council mulled actions that they hope will prevent or mitigate another total shutdown of the water system like the one that occurred March 6-8, while citizens feted city workers for their tireless effort during a severe thunderstorm to get the service flowing again.

The Board of Directors of the Olney Hamilton Hospital Foundation met Monday, April 12, 2021, at 5 p.m. at the Olney Hamilton Hospital Education Building located at 901 W. Hamilton Street. The following members were present: Dr. Steve Atchley, Lewis Farmer, Marilyn Ickert, Trina Johnson, Don Matthews, Mark McClelland, Kendall Montgomery and Carla Perry. Members absent: Bill Price and Carl Craig. Also present: Mike Huff, Dale Lovett and Olney Enterprise Staff, Will Sadler and Ronni Walker.
President Lewis Farmer called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m., welcomed the guests and board members and asked the members to review the minutes of the annual meeting June 1, 2020. Mark McClelland made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Kendall Montgomery seconded and the motion caried with unanimous approval.

YOUNGSTOWN Mrs. Gloria Adams, 76, departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
Mrs. Adams was born Feb. 10, 1944, in Midway, Alabama, the daughter of Elijah and Elnora Williams DuBois.
She graduated from Center Ridge High School in Alabama, after which, she relocated to Youngstown where she met her husband of 54 years, Norman Adams Sr. From this union, together they had four children, Norman Jr., Shawn, Shawna and Sonja.
She had been employed at North Side Hospital, after which she was employed at Delphi Packard for 30 years before retiring.
Gloria was a faithful servant and member of Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church. She was president of the Mission, a Sunday School Teacher, was also member of the Usher Board, Mass and Number 2 Choir. She assisted in the kitchen whenever needed and also assisted with Communion. She was a member of the Praise Team and was truly a servant of the Lord. Gloria displayed unwavering faith

Injuries and COVID-19 quarantines both impacted the Switzerland County and Rising Sun boys varsity basketball teams on Friday night, but even with each squad missing key pieces, it was still a back and forth battle for the ‘Ruler of the River’ trophy.
In the end, Rising Sun used a big third quarter to pull away and defeat the Pacers by a final score of 49-41.
Playing without starters Ben Hicks and Nate Geyman, Switzerland County got five first quarter points from Bryce Turner and a basket from Jacob Williams to post seven first period points.
Rising Sun would ride its outside shooting expertise all night, posted 10 points in the opening quarter, as Chase Kuehn, Damon Carrigan, and Peyton Merica all had three-pointers and Merica also had a freethrow.
