Make that two transfer additions for Michigan State from Louisville.
Christian Fitzpatrick, a former wide receiver for the Cardinals, announced his commitment to the Spartans on Saturday. He is the second Louisville transfer to commit to Michigan State in the offseason, following cornerback Marqui Lowery in February.
Fitzpatrick, 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, is a former three-star prospect from Southfield A&T High School who signed with Louisville’s 2020 recruiting class. He dealt with injuries last season and appeared in only one game – a start against Wake Forest – and had zero receptions.
Arizona transfer CB Khary Crump commits to Michigan State

Make that two cornerback transfer commitments in one day for Michigan State.
Khary Crump, an Arizona cornerback who entered the transfer portal after his freshman season, announced his commitment to the Spartans on Saturday while indicating he has ties to Michigan. That was just hours after Louisville cornerback transfer Marqui Lowery Jr. committed to Michigan State.

Crump, a former three-star recruit from Culver City High School in California, signed with Arizona’s 2020 recruiting class. He didn’t play as a true freshman and left the team in November, according to The Arizona Republic, before entering the portal in January.

Ben VanSumeren is switching sides in the battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy.
The Michigan redshirt sophomore linebacker who entered the transfer portal on Feb. 12 announced his commitment to Michigan State on Saturday. That’s a position of need for the Spartans, who are thin on linebacker depth.
VanSumeren, an Essexville Garber High School graduate, has three seasons of eligibility remaining and won’t officially become a Spartan until he enrolls. His younger brother, Alex VanSumeren, is a 2022 four-star defensive tackle at Essexville Garber who decommitted from Michigan on Feb. 11 and Michigan State is among the schools recruiting him.

Mel Tucker’s debut season as head coach at Michigan State ended almost two months ago and his first recruiting class is now official.
The Spartans signed 18 players during the early period in December and on Wednesday added three-star wide receiver Keon Coleman from Louisiana, who also plans on playing basketball for Tom Izzo. Coleman signed after Rayshaun Benny, a four-star defensive tackle from Oak Park High School, flipped his commitment and signed with Michigan on Wednesday morning.
