The residents of East Muskingum Township and Devola passed a five-year renewal levy with almost 74 percent of the vote Tuesday night.
The 1.5-mill levy is a renewal of a tax for the benefit of East Muskingum Fire District for the purpose of fire protection and emergency medical services, according to the Washington County Board of Elections.
The levy was passed for an additional five years and would next be eligible to reappear on ballots in 2026.
There were 354 votes for the levy, with 128 against.
Devola Fire Chief Harold Newlan said Tuesday night he greatly appreciated the township residents for continuing their support.
