HANNIBAL â Utility customers of the Hannibal Board of Public Works will not see their bills increasing when the next fiscal year starts on July 1.
The HBPW Board opted to hold the line on utility rates when it approved the budget for fiscal year 2021-22 at its April meeting.
âWe have been pretty conservative on the revenue forecast, kind of reflecting what weâre seeing during the COVID months and also adjusting those revenue streams for the supply chain impacts, not only to ourselves but our customers,â said Ken Reasoner, general manager of the HBPW. âEven with the conservative approach to our revenue forecast, we are really not proposing any rate increases at this time.â

HANNIBAL â A week of frigid cold in late February will cost the Hannibal Board of Public Works a significant amount of money, but the utility has no plans to raise electric rates to pay for the high energy costs it encountered.
âThe financial impact is going to be high, but it is not going to be anything we canât manage or handle,â said Ken Reasoner, general manager of the HBPW.
During the February meeting of the HBPW Board Reasoner reported that the HBPWâs energy bill could be $700,000 to $1 million higher than during the same time in February under more normal conditions weather-wise.
