Ken Leishman died at the Borders General Hospital on Sunday, January 31 aged 86. And tributes were paid at a virtual meeting of Galashiels Community Council on Wednesday, February 3. Betty Scott, a member of the public, said: “Kenny was a member of the Gala Local Relief Fund and had a lot to do with Gala Opera. “He will be a great miss to the town and I would like to pass on my condolences to his wife Audrey and his family.” Galashiels Amateur Operatic Society also posted a tribute on social media. It reads: “Though never actually performing on stage, Ken Leishman formed part of the stage crew and in fact took on the role of stage manager for many years.
