Think a slicked-back ponytail is easy to do? Just ask Brittany Boyd how hard it can be, especially when you re doing it on models for the 29th annual Vancouver Fashion Week, one populated with more than 80 designers and their various teams of models. It was one of the challenges she faced when she was invited to join hairdressers to work the event a pretty heady experience for a teenager in high school.
Boyd, a Grade 12 student at NorKam senior secondary, was invited to join the team sent to the event by Ra Hair Studio. She is working at Ra as an apprentice while completing her Grade 12 studies and was asked to take part by Ra owner/master stylist Ken Kozuki. Boyd completed her hairdressing studies at the school s La Bella Saints salon last year while in Grade 11. She had previously been attending St. Ann s Academy, but opted for NorKam to specifically study hairdressing.
