Long before Jeni Landers became chairperson of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee, she was a student in Kenneth Jenks history class.
Memories of Jenks compassion and creativity have stayed with her over the course of 33 years. Since joining the school committee, her appreciation for her former teacher only grew, she said.
“He was completely committed to public education, she said. It’s pretty ironic that Ken spent the last year literally making sure that everybody was safe from COVID, from managing finances to sending kids back to school safely, touring buildings and ordering supplies.”
Jenks, the assistant superintendent for administration and business services of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District, died Friday, just one week after he had heart surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was 62.
