The annual School Forest Festival will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, 9 a.m.–2 p.m., at the School Forest on Bryan Park Road. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the beloved event, wherein community members are invited to cut their own Christmas trees, aided by YSHS School Forest Club members.
Bill Hunt was 31 when he was last seen alive.
Leaning up against a tree, badly wounded, the Special Forces ranger provided cover for a wounded comrade that November in 1966.
He never came home.
Married with two kids, Hunt had served in the military before but got out after one enlistment to return home to Sandpoint.
