SimplyBiz appoints new chief financial officer By Justin Cash 17 Adviser support services group SimplyBiz has appointed a new chief financial officer. David Thompson will join the SimplyBiz board on 1 April. After qualifying as an accountant, Thompson’s roles have spanned the energy and consulting sectors, most recently as chief financial officer at Aim-listed Smart Metering Systems, and previously at Energetics Utility Group, Johnston Carmichael and PwC. After five years with the company SimplyBiz’s group finance director Gareth Hague will be leaving the company “by mutual agreement”, and will step down from the board on 31 March. SimplyBiz chairman Ken Davy praised Thompson’s work supporting the group’s IPO in 2018, and its acquisition of research firm Defaqto the following year.
