The mayor encouraged residents to take part in the day’s activities, which include disc golf at St. Elizabeth Park, the storyboard walk and spray park at Water Ridge Park, mini-golf at the chamber of commerce office, golf at the Humboldt Golf Club, bowling at Kemway Lanes, swimming at the Aquatic Centre, and fireworks at 10 a.m. at Centennial Park. “In recognition of the discovery of unmarked graves at the residential schools across the country, I ask each and every one of you pay a minute of silence in tribute to those lives taken too soon.” City Hall has lowered their flags and changed the canopy lights to orange, rather than red and white.

“There’s an app that we have access to, and all the instructions are there,” Hergott said. “You can still participate from the comfort of your office chair or perhaps school or even from your couch at home and have fun and raise a little money for a good cause.” Hergott said the event is tailored for anyone to participate in, with some participants in previous years ranging from four or five to seniors in the community. To participate, people can collect pledge forms on their website at humboldt.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca/bfks-2021/. Within the instructions for virtual participation, there is a link participants can follow on any device to access the online game.
