UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, retained his title with a third round knockout win over challenger, Gilbert Burns, in UFC 258 in Las Vegas on Sunday.
The win is Usman’s third title defence after previously dispatching Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
Burns came out fast and hard, raining powerful shots and clipping the champion to put Usman on his defensive edge. The Brazilian tried to follow up and did connect with several heavy strikes, but Usman weathered the storm and survived an opening round that tilted strongly in favour of the challenger.

D’Tigress assistant coach, Peter Ahmedu, says the US women’s basketball team are “not unbeatable” after both sides were drawn together in a tough Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games group on Tuesday.
The draw, which was conducted on Tuesday morning at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland, pitted four-time women’s Afrobasket winners D’Tigress against Olympics defending champions USA, France and hosts Japan in Group B, while D’Tigers will also slug it out with Australia and two other yet to qualify teams in the men’s basketball event.

D’Tigress have been drawn against defending champions the Unites States of America, hosts Japan and France in Group B of the basketball event of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The basketball event of the 2020 summer Olympics will hold from July 26 to August 8 at the Saitama Super Arena, Tokyo.
According to the latest FIBA women’s rankings, the USA are currently ranked first in the world, France is fifth while Japan is ranked 10th. D’Tigress are rated the 14th best women’s basketball team in the world.
Group A in the women’s category consists of Korea, Serbia, Canada, and Spain, while Group C has Australia, Puerto Rico, China and Belgium.

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala scored twice as Barcelona Ladies hammered Real Madrid 4-1 in Sunday’s league clash.
It’s the second time the Nigerian is hitting a brace this season, after her double against Rayo Vallecano last Wednesday.
Oshoala netted Barca’s third and fourth goals in the 37th and 70th minutes respectively.
In England, Everton winger, Alex Iwobi, was in action for 63 minutes in his team’s 2-0 loss to relegation-threatened Newcastle United.
Semi Ajayi was in action for the entire duration in West Brom’s 2-2 draw against fellow strugglers, Fulham. His compatriots, Ola Aina, Tosin Adarabioyo and Ademola Lookman, were in action for the Cottagers. Aina was replaced by Kenny Tete in the 81st minute.
