A crowd of hundreds gathered in Hastings Saturday in a week the city was in the spotlight over the treatment of the family of outgoing Hastings schools board chair Kelsey Waits, whose transgender child was outed by a group of parents during a fractious election season.
The Star Tribune reports that several hundred people gathered Saturday at Levee Park in Hastings at a Rally for Trans Kids. The event was organized to show support for transgender, nonbinary and LGBTQ young people in Hastings, following a CNN report that outgoing Hastings school board chair Kels .
Filling every corner of Levee Park, those from the Hastings community and beyond stood in solidarity with school board chair Kelsey Waits and her family.
