TRINIDADIAN RC priest Collin Jackson has vowed not to abandon his flock in St Vincent, even in the face of the threat of La Soufriere volcano, which continues to erupt and cause devastation throughout the island.
Jackson, born in Sangre Grande, has been in St Vincent for almost two years and is now in charge of the St John the Evangelist Parish in Mesopotamia, in the southeast of the island. He was ordained a priest last August.

THE La Soufriere volcano in St Vincent and the Grenadines has erupted for the fourth time since Friday. And coincidentally, it happened on the anniversary of the volcano s 1979 eruption.
The volcano, which is now producing pyroclastic flows, first erupted on Friday morning, then once in the afternoon and again in the evening.

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) said it will be donating US$100,000 in disaster relief to people affected by the La Soufriere volcano eruption in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
In a statement on Tuesday, it said this assistance follows the support it has already provided to the country’s National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) for evacuation efforts as well as humanitarian needs through the Red Cross.

Clouds of volcanic ash have be seen over Barbados on Saturday morning after a night of continuous eruptions by La Soufriere Volcano in St Vincent.
The ash has already began to affect life in Barbados as, at 8.30 am on Saturday, its Met Office issued a severe volcanic ash and small-craft warning.
