May 11, 2021 - 11:20 AM A third Kelowna business has been ordered closed by Interior Health due to COVID-19 in less than a week. The accounting firm Thalheimer & Company was ordered to close its office yesterday, May 10. The firm will be closed until May 20. It joins OK Tire on Dilworth Drive and the parts and service department of Kelowna Toyota. It doesn’t necessarily mean they were violating COVID safety rules, the general manager of Kelowna Toyota told iNFOnews.ca. “It’s just unlucky timing,” Jamie Kaban said. Kaban voluntarily closed the parts and service department on Friday after hearing from Interior Health that a staff member had tested positive for COVID.
May 10, 2021 - 2:30 PM The parts and services department at Kelowna Toyota has been ordered closed by Interior Health because of COVID-19 transmission. It’s one of five businesses in the Interior Health region closed under new health orders issued April 12. The closure at the Toyota dealership s parts and service department was imposed on May 8 and runs through to May 19. OK Tire on Dilworth Drive, also in Kelowna, was ordered closed May 7 but is scheduled to reopen tomorrow, May 11, according to the Interior Health Workplace Closures web page. Such closures are ordered when “public health investigations determine transmission of COVID-19,” Interior Health stated. Closures can be required for 10 days or more but at larger worksites the closures can be limited to specific areas.

Why did you start your business?
Model bean started out of necessity due to COVID-19, we had great jobs but the pandemic made us look into different ways to make a living. Being first-generation Colombian-Candian, we went back to our roots. Colombian coffee has been in our family for generations, so we developed a brand and started importing our own family’s coffee to Kelowna. This is truly from “farm to cup” 100% organic Colombian coffee.
